If you use Ancestry.com you know that you have the option of exploring other researcher’s trees.

What have you found in your family tree?

There are times when these trees can be a gold mine, but other times when they can be a mine trap.

However, there is a lot to consider and take into consideration when doing this.

  • Does the information match what you have?
  • Does the information have sources?
  • Are the records attached?
  • Is the information verified?
  • Is the researcher willing to respond to questions and share information?

These are great questions to consider not only when looking at online trees, but also researching off line research information.

Regardless of the information, take time to review the sources and conduct your own research.
