History of Holy Saturday

posted in: Holidays, Holy Week | 0

Holy Saturday is the day between Good Friday {or Black Friday} when Jesus was crucified and Easter Sunday when he rose from the grave.

Jesus’ body was put in a tomb and the tomb was sealed

Holy Saturday is the day Jesus body lay in the tomb. The day is also known as Great Saturday or The Great Sabbath, as Christ rested in the tomb.

Some denominations also sees this as the Harrowing of Hell when Jesus is believed to travel into hell before his resurrection.

On this day, the altar is covered in black and communion is reserved only for those dying.

However, hope is coming in the morning.
