Over 100 years ago, the Titanic sailed into history.
The Titanic was billed as the “unsinkable ship” by newspapers of her day.
She sailed from her Southampton, England on April 10, 1912. She was divided into first class, second class and third class passengers.
On April 14th, while on her maiden voyage to New York City, she struck an iceberg. Two and a half hours later, in the early morning hours of April 15th, the ship sunk.
Headlines around the world carried the news of her sinking and the great loss of life.
The loss of over 1500 passengers and crew, sailed the ship into legend. The great loss of life and memories of the survivors, along with the finding of the ship in 1985 has kept her memory alive.
Life on the Titanic, with its class distinctions, was much different than life as we know it today.
The Titanic was the beginning of the end of the Edwardian Age, which officially ended with the start of World War I.
