Genealogy Friday: Writing a family story

We all have family stories we want to share.

So why not take the time to write them down?

If you are creative, you can spin them into an even larger story and create a fiction novel.

However, just writing the most basic of stories to share with family members will mean a lot.

After all, you may be the only one that knows this story.  If you don’t share it, the story could be lost to the ages.

You could write a story of coming to America, serving in the war, a latest trip, how grandpa won his gun, why grandma chewed tobacco, the doll Aunt Susie made, the car Uncle Arthur won in a race, etc.

There may be just one story to tell, but more than likely as you begin to write one story more stories will begin to appear.

Once you’ve written the story print it out to share with family.  Better yet, find an artist in the family to provide pictures.  Have fun and be creative!  Make it unique to you, the story and your family.

So what are you waiting on?  Go and write your family story?
