I have loved history for as long as I can remember. I believe that we have to learn from the mistakes of the past, to move forward in the future and not repeat them.  From a young age I have enjoyed reading biographies and about various historical events.  I still am obsessed with the Titanic, Presidential Assassinations, the Hindenburg Disaster and numerous other historical events.

At the age of twelve I was intrigued to discover that my family was related to Davy Crockett  {he was the brother-in-law of my 4th great-grandfather}.  By the age of twenty I was already researching her own famiy.  Starting at such a young age, I was lucky enough to be able to start with her eight great-grandparents {two of whom she’d known}.

I have been able to take most of my lines back very far, and often to their roots overseas.  I am proud to be able to trace all of my lines back to at least the early 1800s.

It was my love of family and the past that made her decide to begin writing some of my family stories and dramatically re-enacting them.  Some of the re-enactments I offer are based on my own ancestors and family connections, while others are based on various events and/or people in history that have always intrigued her.

I have also taught genealogy for Greenville Tech and spoken on the subject for the SC Jaycees.

In addition to my work as a genealogist, I am also a writer, musician, life coach and speaker.  I have my own ministry which you can check out at, DianaLeaghMatthews or her music blog at SingingtheSongInMyHeart.  You can also discover more about my life coaching services at Trinity Christian Life Coaching.
