In the 1920s, dress hemlines rose and waist lines lowered to the hip. Jumper blouse introduced and became very popular. The blouse was usually paired with a shirt and accented with a belt or sash.
Men wore polo shirts, dress shirts and sweaters.
Children’s Fashion
Toddler girls from 1919 wore laced-edged rompers which snapped on the sides. A bloomer dress with white
collar was worn by children by 1925.
Celebrities in the 1920s and 1930s would sometimes combine casual pieces with formal pieces for a new look. Evening wear such as the double-breasted white cotton pique was also worn during these decades, as well as day suits with wide lapels. These suits were worn with accessories such as wool tie, black trilby hat, or black gloves.
Shoes of this era had high and wide heels. Many women would wear heels with their swim suits to mark their femininity. Black leather shoes were very popular.
Accessories:
Hats were very popular. Popular styles of the 1920s included the helmet style, draped hats, cloches, turbans and pokes.
Handbags were often vanity bags with built-in mirrors
Hairstyles:
Short haircuts became very popular. Women during the 1920’s expressed themselves by cutting their hair short, by wearing small skirts that showed their ankles, and by doing dances that were considered
bad like the Charleston
