Christmas Traditions: Christmas star

posted in: Christmas | 0

The first Christmas star appeared on that first Christmas morning when it appeared over a stable. The shepherds came to see the Christ Child. The angels appeared to these shepherds and proclaimed “Do not be afraid; the star has come to bring you good tidings of great joy, and to show you the place where a little baby is born,–a little babe whose name is Jesus, and who will give peace and joy to the whole world.” After the angels disappeared the shepherds hastened to follow the star and visit and worship the Christ Child.

In the East, a Wise Men saw the star and followed it. The journey is believed to have taken about two years before the sojourners reached their destination and worshipped the Christ Child presenting him with the gifts of gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.

Today stars are used in various Christmas decorations and ornaments, coming in a variety of sizes, colors and shapes. However it’s a reminder of the hope the Christ Child provides and offers.
