While breaking through this brick wall I currently had a conversation with several other genealogists.
We all agreed that when we have a common name such as Mary Smith, John Davis, etc. Then it is almost impossible to find the person we are looking for.
However, there are ways around this common name.
Is there a sibling, child, parent, spouse or other relative that has a name not quite so common?
Maybe a Josiah Smith, Ezekiel Davis, etc.
Look for these names in the census records. Often this way the family we are looking for appears either in the same household or on the same page.
How do you find common sounding names?
